binuscan ColorPro suite binuscan ColorPro is a complete imaging and workflow solution for pre-press and publishing professionals. It is made up of a suite of applications organized in a client/server architecture around binuscan IPM, the Image Processing Machine. Its goals are to fulfill all pre-press needs, maximize quality in a flexible, productive way. The ColorPro solution can be a fully automated image processing solution
with powerful workflow features or an image per image tweaking and editing
solution. binuscan IPM binuscan IPM (for Image Processing Machine) is the server application. It executes image processing orders fed by client applications. It can apply any type of process to images such as color correction based on, any geometrical transformation, color space conversions and output to standard pre-press file formats. In terms of workflow management, IPM can handle up to twenty input/output (hot) folders. It can therefore deliver up to twenty differently processed images from a single original. All images that are processed through an IPM workflow are completely safeguarded. The IPM never actually modifies any images: in its process it creates a new image to process and saves images (with a unique naming procedure) in separate output folders. Therefore in the event of a crash, the original file is still available. The IPM's interface is limited to an information window and a scratch disk setup. Precise job logging is also an absolute necessity for this application capable of processing thousands of images per day. The IPM is just an engine. Its task is to execute processing orders which can come in different forms: as specification files from one of the clients; as information written in image file tags while scanning with ColorPro or binuscan-ready scanner drivers (UMAX and Polaroid for example); and as predefined processing configurations attached to hot folders. binuscan ColorPro The ColorPro application is the first contact in this global solution. First contact because it serves as an image acquisition source (from scanners or digital cameras) driving Photoshop acquisition plug-ins and TWAIN drivers, and because ColorPro is used to configure the entire solution. Type of image processing, color separation table to be used, file format and workflow setup are among some of the items that ColorPro sets up. binuscan JobManager binuscan JobManager is a QuarkXPress XTension that communicates with binuscan IPM. The goal of this XTension is to facilitate and speed handling images in the page layout and to shorten RIP processing by reducing the calculations it has to perform. Images can be processed by the IPM directly from the QuarkXPress page after positioning is complete. This includes color correction, color separation, correction and separation, grayscale conversion and/or resampling. All images are re-imported in the layout at 100%, no position offset and no rotation. Proccessing occurs in the background without slowing down foreground activity or on a separate computer depending on the configuration.
