binuscan (http://www.binuscan.com) develops and markets software designed for high-end image processing and retouching and workflow management for pre-press and press professionals.

The company's origin can be traced to 1989 when a professional printer with 20 years of experience in print-reproduction, Jean-Marie Binucci, driven by his dissatisfaction with desktop scanning and separation solutions, sought a way to produce high quality color separations on the desktop. His experience led him to realize that most digitized images could not produce acceptable prints if special processing was not applied. Applying his traditional know-how, he put together a team of software engineers and created ReCo (REbuilding COlors) Technology.

Established in 1992, binuscan marketed products that revolved around the ReCo Technology. Originally, binuscan products were created to address the shortcomings of desktop scanners and existing color solutions. Many productivity tools were added, based upon the requirements of professionals. Later, OSBLC technology was developed to meet the growing needs of single-shot digital cameras, producing a wide range of image enhancement tools which focus on streamlining productivity and improving quality.

Unrivaled in image processing and workflow management, binuscan publishes a complete product line that is adapted to entry level users as well as professionals. Users can significantly improve the quality of their pictures or ensure that scanned images retain the color nuances of the originals, regardless of the scanner that was used.

binuscan’s main product, binuscan ColorPro, has become a reference in the fast-moving market of desktop publishing, with more than 18000 licenses sold worldwide. In 1996, binuscan created a bundle product called PhotoPerfect, designed to integrate binuscan’s powerful color correction and separation functions with selected brands of desktop scanners.

Since 1996, UMAX have been bundling binuscan PhotoPerfect with their flatbed scanners. The same year, binuscan created a special version of PhotoPerfect for Kodak Pro Master Photo CD; and Polaroid have been bundling binuscan PhotoPerfect with their transparency scanners since fall 1997.

In 2001, binuscan signed an agreement with Sinar to create CeMagYK, the integration of binuscan IPM in Sinar's CaptureShop software for the Sinar digital backs. 2001 was also celebrated as the release year for PhotoRetouch Pro, binuscans powerful photo retouching software.

binuscan is headquartered in the Principality of Monaco and since 1994 has maintained an office in New York . binuscan products are sold worldwide through an international network of distributors, have earned an excellent reputation and won many trade awards. They are used on all five continents by pre-press professionals including many well-known newspapers and magazines.
