negative originals on their Astra 1220S (this mode was not supported in

| PhotoPerfect version 4.3 is now ICC compliant. Images scanned
with a UMAX scanner then processed with PhotoPerfect can be tagged with
a special "binuscan" ICC profile that describes the scanner
and processing. This is extremely useful for Photoshop 5.0 (or newer) which applies a profile as images are opened. ICC_BPP_Mac_sit.bin -- 124KB is an installer which places a file called "binuscan.icm" in the IPM:Data folder. |

| This is a bug in F/W version 1.3 of the Umax Astra 610S. When scanning at less than 100 dpi (or previewing at 72 dpi), the color bytes are misordered. Stripes appear in the image. If the final scan is performed at more than 100 dpi, the final image will look fine. But if the final scan is performed at less than 100 dpi, stripes will also appear in the final image. Please download UPDPP32.ZIP -- 528KB. This archive contains an updater called UPDPP32.EXE which will fix this bug.Note: for 3.11 users, this updater will also install a newer version of MSVCRT20.DLL (see below). |

binuscan PhotoPerfect Junior/Advanced 3.0 for UMAX Astra 600S | |
| A bug has been found to occur with binuscan PhotoPerfect
Junior version 3.0 and UMAX Astra 600S scanners. binuscan IPM displays the error message "This image comes from an unidentified scanner" when images are examined. These images are then placed directly in the TO CHECK folder without being processed. The problem occurs frequently on Apple Power Macintosh 7200 running system 7.5.2. It has also been found to occur randomly on other systems and configurations. Once the problem arises once, the software never works again with the Astra 600S scanner. | The settings files for the UMAX S6E included in binuscan
PhotoPerfect Junior 3.0 for Windows have been reported to cause functional
problems with MagicScan-binuscan. These problems are solved by downloading the FIXJUN30.ZIP file and replacing the existing WINDOWS/FACTOSET directory and its contents (this .ZIP file includes a readme with detailed explanations of the procedure). This problem only occurs with binuscan PhotoPerfect Junior Version 3.0 bundled with the UMAX S6E for Windows. It doesn't occur with the Mac Version. It doesn't affect the Junior version bundled with other scanner models, Macintosh or Windows. |
