As a printer in the Principality of Monaco in 1988, I could not find my traditional tools in desktop publishing software. I therefore spent more than two years developing an automatic digital-image correction technology based on histogram analysis.
I also designed a color-separation system based on statistical analysis. It delivered substantial ink savings without any visible change to the printed colors.
In 1992, I decided that these technologies should no longer remain within my own company, but should also benefit my fellow printers. I launched Binuscan, a name combining Binucci with scanner, the equipment for which the software was originally designed.
In 1992, I was the first person in the world to bring this kind of technology to market, and it was an immediate success.
I did not think it would last; I expected the industry giants to understand how I had done it. But the approach was so unconventional that they did not.
From 1994 onward, the imaging industry's leading companies offered me worldwide agreements to integrate my technologies into their products.
The technology initially focused on automatic image processing. Later, when I moved on to processing the entire page, it achieved remarkable success throughout the newspaper industry. Although many competitors have since entered the market, the difference in quality remains clearly visible. That is still true today.
